Choosing the perfect family holiday can feel like a big decision. There is so much to think about — flight times, transfer times, the weather, whether there is enough to keep the children entertained and, of course, whether the adults will actually get a chance to relax too!
As a travel advisor, I can research destinations and resorts to help find the right holiday for each family. But there is something extra reassuring about recommending somewhere I have actually experienced myself.
I have visited all three of the destinations below, which is why they make up my personal top three family holiday destinations. They might not be the perfect choice for every family — because every family is different — but these are the places I would personally be happy to recommend based on my own experiences.
1. Majorca
Majorca is one of my favourite destinations for a family holiday, particularly if you are travelling with younger children or don’t fancy spending hours on a plane.
One of the biggest advantages is the relatively short flight from the UK. Once you arrive, transfer times can also be fairly short, depending on where your resort is located. When you’re travelling with children, reducing the amount of time spent travelling can make a huge difference!
Majorca also has plenty of family-friendly resorts to choose from, so whether you are looking for a large hotel with lots of activities or something a little more relaxed, there are plenty of options.
The weather is another reason I love Majorca. Late spring and early summer can be a lovely time to visit, when the temperatures are warm without necessarily being too overwhelming. Of course, if you travel in May or October, there is always the possibility of a little rain, so that is something worth keeping in mind.
And when you’re not relaxing by the pool or spending time on one of the island’s beautiful beaches, there are plenty of things to do. A visit to the aquarium or the marine park can make a great family day out too!
For me, Majorca is a fantastic all-round choice for families who want a relatively easy journey, beautiful beaches and plenty of family-friendly options.

2. Turkey
Turkey is another destination that I would personally recommend to families, especially if you are looking for a fantastic all-inclusive holiday and great value for money.
One of the things I love about Turkey is the choice of resorts. There are some incredible all-inclusive hotels, many of which are practically destinations in themselves! Think swimming pools, slides, children’s clubs, entertainment and plenty of food and drink options.
Turkey can offer excellent value for money, particularly when you are travelling as a family. It is a destination where you can often find a lot included within your holiday.
There are also some brilliant attractions, including the famous Land of Legends, which can be a fantastic experience for families looking for a little extra excitement during their trip.
There are a couple of things I would consider before booking Turkey. The flight is slightly longer than somewhere like Majorca, and transfer times can sometimes be quite long depending on where your hotel is located.
This is why choosing the right resort can be so important. A fantastic hotel might look perfect, but if it means adding a very long transfer after your flight, it might not be the best option for your particular family.
The weather is another thing to think about. Turkey can get very hot, particularly during the peak summer months. Some families will love that, while others — especially those travelling with very young children — might prefer to travel slightly earlier or later in the season.
But if you’re looking for sunshine, amazing all-inclusive resorts and plenty of family fun, Turkey would definitely be high on my list.

3. Tenerife
My third choice is Tenerife — and this one has a very special advantage: it is a brilliant destination for families at almost any time of year.
If you are restricted to travelling during the school holidays, finding warm weather can sometimes be a challenge, especially outside the main summer months. Tenerife is a great option because of its warm climate throughout the year.
It is also incredibly tourist-friendly, which makes travelling as a family feel that little bit easier. There are lots of fantastic resorts, plenty of restaurants and activities, and a huge amount to see and do.
Two of the biggest attractions for families are Loro Parque and Siam Park. Both can make brilliant days out and are a big reason why Tenerife is such a popular choice for families.
Of course, there are also plenty of beautiful resorts where you could happily spend most of your holiday relaxing by the pool or enjoying the beach.
Tenerife is a destination I would particularly recommend to families who want the reassurance of warm weather, lots to do and plenty of choice when it comes to resorts and accommodation.

So, Which One Would I Choose?
Honestly? It depends!
Every family is different, and there isn’t one destination that is perfect for everyone.
If you want a shorter flight and a relatively easy journey, Majorca could be a fantastic choice.
If you are looking for a great-value all-inclusive holiday with incredible resorts, Turkey might be the one for you.
And if year-round warmth and plenty of family attractions are important, Tenerife could be perfect.
These are my personal top three family destinations because I have visited them myself and experienced them as family holiday destinations. They aren’t recommendations based solely on photos or research — they are places I would genuinely feel confident recommending based on my own experiences.
And that is something I think is really important when choosing a holiday.
As your travel advisor, I won’t simply pick the first hotel that comes up in a search. I will take the time to find out what your family wants from a holiday.
Do you want a short transfer?
Are you happy with a longer flight?
Do you want to spend most of your time relaxing around the pool, or do you want lots of activities nearby?
Are you travelling with younger children, teenagers, or a mixture of both?
All of these things can make a huge difference when it comes to choosing the right destination.
So, while these are my personal top three, I would always choose a holiday based on what works best for you and your family.
